proionic was founded in 2004 by the chemist Roland Kalb and the process engineer Michael Kotschan. With a patented new and extremely high capacity production process in its pocket, which later was named
CBILSĀ® (Carbonate Based Ionic Liquid Synthesis), the start-up prognosis for the future was good and proionic was accepted at the
Founder Center ZAT of the
University of Leoben. Within two years the production process was expanded and considerably improved in hundreds of experiments. As a result
proionic passed the test phase with flying colors after the scale-up to the industrial level had been made.
The first industrial project realized by an international operating gas company showed the astounding possibilities of ionic liquids and resulted in the successful development of the prototype of a piston-less gas compressor. During the industrial development proionic gained important know-how about the material resistance and the additives of ionic liquids. proionic has made a name for itself on the European market and, therefore, can count an array of European and International companies among its clients and partners.
